confirmed after launching first satellites of the Earth. He was
a founder and the rector of the Petersburg Institute of
Geography. |

principal natural sciences. Its founder J.E.Gilibert introduced
botany, mineralogy and zoology. J. Pabrėža was a creator of
botanical terminology, as well as a compiler of botanical
dictionaries. S.B.Jundzilas, a naturalist and materialist,
enlightener J.G.A.Forster introduced the science of
palaeontology, he was a participant of the expedition around the
world lead by James Cooke. |
